Apple TV GEN4 HDMI Cord

IS the supplied cord rated for 4K movie viewing? I just bought a new 4K TV.

There is no HDMI cord supplied with the Apple TV, if you have one it's some kind of special offer and so we'd have no idea what kind it is.

However there are only 2 types of HDMI cable, standard and high speed, the Apple TV requires a high speed cable, so if the people providing the cable have done their homework you should have a high speed cable.

It would likely say it on the packaging rather than just on the cable. It might state an HDMI version it's compatible with but this is technically incorrect, although some manufacturers and resellers do use it from time to time.

It would be difficult for Apple to include an HDMI cable in the box, for example the TV in the kitchen needs one of 3' or less, whereas the TV in my bedroom requires on of 10', you might say a 10' cable would suit both, but I wouldn't want a 10' cable where I didn't need it since longer cables especially when they get coiled up creates impedance which may result in a poor picture.

That's really good to know! I spoke with Netflix Saturday and they said they are beginning conversion to all 4K programming, so my Apple TV will be useless, except for those movies never released in 4K. Useless in all my current apps too as they begin release in 4K. Kinda ticks me off I bought Apple TV this year. My new TV receives, over wifi, 4K programming, so the Apple TV has just become a paperweight.

IF you're right, Apple should buy these things back. UHD was well in place when I purchased the unit.
